  • Professional Information:

(1) –Program’s objectives:

    1. Provide the students with a wide background of knowledge in the different branches of basic science of Geology.
    2. Practice the students on Geological and other related techniques to qualify the students to design and carryout experiments.
    3. Habilitate the students to employ scientific facts and theories to collect, formulate, analyze, interpret practical and theoretical data, and to solve problems in scientific basis.
    4. Identify the role of Geology in society developments, and develop geological approaches that meet community needs taking into account economic, environmental, social, ethical, and safety requirements.
    5. Enhance students self – learning using information technology, risk management, organization of time, working in a team, and reviewing of a quality control processes.

  1. Attributes of the Geology: The graduates must be able to:
  • Gain the essential knowledge in Geology.
  • Have the practical skills, safety considerations, careful analysis, realistic conclusionand can think critically.
  • Be able to work either independently or in groups and tackle challenging Problems in Geology.
  • Practice the skills of oral and written communication in Geology.
  • Realize scientific, cultural, Islamic and ethical aspectsin Geology

  • General and Transferable Skills

The Geologist must be able to:

  • Use information and communication technology effectively.
  • Identify roles and responsibilities, and their performing manner.
  • Think independently, set tasks and solve problems on scientific basis.
  • Work in groups effectively; manage time, collaborate and communicate with others positively.
  • Consider community linked problems, ethics and traditions.
  • Acquire self- and long life-learning.
  • Apply scientific models, systems, and tools effectively.
  • Deal with scientific patents considering property right.

(A)Knowledge and understanding:

Student graduates can be able to:

  1. Demonstrate the principles, procedures and techniques used in chemical analysis,characterization and structural investigations of different chemical compounds.
  2. Describe name of the processes and mechanisms supporting the structure and function of the specific topics.
  3. Describe the developmental progress to the program-related knowledge.
  4. Discuss the principles of thermodynamics and quantum mechanics including their applications in chemistry.
  5. Discuss the theories and methods applied for interpreting and analyzing data related to discipline.
  6. Explain the related terminology, nomenclature and classification schemes.
  7. Explain the related terminology, nomenclature and classification systems.
  8. Identify characteristics of the different states of the matter and elements including trends within the periodic table and the related theories.
  9. Identify natural features of the earth’s crust and its narrative.
  10. Identify the make-up and properties of the different geological processes, including the main synthetic pathways.
  11. Identify the relation between the studied topics and the environment.
  12. Know the basic concepts about mathematics, general physics, botany, zoolog, and basic computer science
  13. Put up the current events of geological research and expert evaluations.
  14. Recognize rock units, time rock units, tectonic events, and the fossil content of each formations recorded in Egypt.
  15. Recognize the basic concepts about mathematics, universal physics, botany, zoology, and basic computer science and geology of Egypt.

 

(B) Intellectual Skills:

Graduate must be able to:

  1. Anticipate the issues connected to the geological theories and concepts and principles for discussion and reading of the geological phenomena.
  2. Grow a circle of ideas as a solution of various geological problems and devise appropriate explanations for their occurrence.
  3. Apply theories and techniques to identify the appropriate theoretical or practical application.
  4. Evaluate the published geologic information.
  5. Conclude the basic concepts about mathematics, general physic, botany, zoology, and basic computer science.
  6. Analyze qualitatively and quantitatively science relevant data.
  7. Develop lines of argument and appropriate judgments in accordance with scientific theories and concepts.
  8. Construct several related and integrated data to confirm, make evidence and test theories.
  9. Pick apart the different methods employed in addressing subject related topics.
  10. Analyze geological data to key out and confirm geological structures as well as to determine the paleoenvironment of deposition.
  11. Recognize different types of origin of hydrocarbon potentiality.

(C) Professional and practical skills:

  1. Examination and generate advantage of previous geological works.
  2. The use of laboratories and field equipment safely to collect and analyze samples.
  3. Ensure the accuracy and the application of scientific integrity in geological samples sectors, as well as precision while writing reports.
  4. The application of GIS in the interpretation of geological phenomena.
  5. Interpretation of structural geological maps to determine the best location area to explore cat-well.
  6. Recognize the different type’s tectonic theory.
  7. Knowledge of distribution of formations in Egypt.
  8. Evaluate the constructing the bed rock according to engineering geology.
  9. Distinguish between different province in Egypt (oil, gasoline or both).

(D) General skills:
